It is with great respect and fond remembrance that we honour the life of George F. Brant, whose long and distinguished career as a lawyer left an indelible mark on clients, colleagues, and the Streetsville community.
George’s legal career spanned more than four decades. Educated with a B.A. (University of Victoria, 1977), an LL.B. (Osgoode Hall, 1982), and an M.B.A. (University of Toronto, 1993), he was called to the Bar of Ontario in 1984. In the ensuing 41 years, Mr. Brant built a private practice characterised by quiet competence, careful judgment, and an unfailing commitment to his work. His office, based out of the heritage-designated Robinson Bray House, became a respected fixture of the local landscape. For many of us who worked in or around that community, his name was synonymous with professionalism and integrity.
But George’s life extended far beyond his ‘lawyering’. In 1991 he was awarded the Canadian Forces Decoration (CD) in recognition of twelve years of active service with the Canadian Armed Forces Reserves. Equally remarkable was his dedication to cultural life through his long-standing involvement with the Mississauga Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Brant was a champion of the arts — he believed deeply in the power of music to unite people and enrich community life. He served on the Orchestra’s Board of Directors for over a decade, offering his leadership, generosity, and unwavering support to elevate the orchestra and ensure its enduring presence.
George Brant’s dedication will endure in the lives of those he served and the cultural institutions he helped sustain. As we reflect on his legacy, we are reminded not only of a lawyer who served with skill and humanity, but of a civic-minded individual who nurtured beauty, culture, and community spirit.
